Inkjet 3d printing and plaster based printing

Inkjet 3d printing and plaster based printing

How to print 3D using the powder bed and inkjet 3D printing technique? This method is used to get multicoloured prototypes that are elastic. Technically, this technique is pretty similar to other granular techniques with difference that the plastic (or resins) powder is sprayed into position with a printer and binded with inkjet. This causes objects that are fully coloured. As the material gets elastic, you can easily make overhangs and elastic parts.

  • 3D printing Technique: Inkjet 3d printing
  • Technology family: Granular materials binding, Plaster-based 3D printing
  • Brief description: A printer spreads powder and uses inkjet as binding.
  • Materials used: Plaster, coloured plaster, resins. Thermoset polymer can be used for strengthening.
  • Advantages: Multi-colour, allows overhangs, elastic constructions.
  • Disadvantages: No metals.
